If you’re young and looking for something to do in Kansas City, you’re in luck. There are plenty of fun things to keep you busy, from exploring the city’s museums and attractions to checking out its nightlife scene. You can also find plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy, whether you’re into hiking, biking, or simply enjoying a sunny day in one of the city’s many parks.

Whatever your interests, you’re sure to find something to do in Kansas City that will keep you entertained. So if you’re looking for a fun-filled weekend or a longer vacation, be sure to add Kansas City to your list of potential destinations.

A good indoor activity includes going to the flight simulator experience. If you’re going solo or with another person, you could experience the Flight Simulator DCX MAX Flight Training Simulator to experience flight without leaving the ground.  This experience is located in Kansas City and provided by Little Blue Aviation.

Another interesting one is indoor gokarting. Are you prepared for indoor go karting? Indoor High-Speed Go Kart Racing is available in the neighboring city of KC, where you may race around the track in one of the city’s greatest go kart settings. Take a few hours out of your day to really amp things up and see if you can do it!

Escape rooms are popular in KC and escape room deals do come and go.

If you want to get active, consider bowling. There are several bowling lanes in the Kansas City region that are open until midnight.

Outdoor activities

Whether you’re into outdoor activities or just want something fun to do outdoors, there’s something here for everyone. There are plenty of outdoor activities to keep you busy in Kansas City. If you’re looking for a challenge, try hiking or rock climbing at one of the many state parks. Or if you’re more interested in a relaxing day, take a stroll through one of the city’s many gardens or go for a bike ride.

  • Go to the Lakeside Nature Center and get in touch with Mother Earth.
  • Take a river walk near the Missouri River. One of our favorite entry points is at Parkville Park where boats also enter into the river.
  • If you’re an animal lover, you might enjoy going to the Kansas City Zoo. With one of the most popular zoos of its kind in the area, it’s always enjoyable to walk around and be among wild life.

Seasonal festivals are typically arranged in the Spring and Fall months, and those are always enjoyable, too.

Nightlife and entertainment

If you’re looking for a night out on the town, Kansas City has plenty to offer. From comedy clubs to dance clubs, there’s something for everyone to do at night. And if you’re in the mood for some live entertainment, the city has a variety of theaters and concert venues. So read on and start planning your next night out!

Restaurants and bars

Kansas City is home to some of the best restaurants in the country. There so many good places to eat it is some times difficult to know which is the newest establishment to visit. And if you’re looking for a good time, there are plenty of bars and clubs to keep you entertained.

The bar and club scene is supposed to be fun for responsible adults, and that’s how we would like to keep it in KC. The local entertainment districts pickup in popularity both in the summer months, and for the holiday season. It’s always a fun time, but be sure you’re prepared with a designated driver or get an Uber, if you’re considering being impaired in any way.

For a more relaxing time, you might enjoy taking a 40min trip to Lawrence, KS. At a location in Lawrence, you could rent a private sauna and an outdoor soaking tub. This outside hot tub and sauna has a private patio that can be used as a lovely, relaxing date with someone else or by yourself. This may be yours for a reasonable price with a personal sauna included.

Girls night out could first start with a girls spa package, if you’re in the mood for relaxation. After that, hit up the Overland Park arboretum

Historical attractions

Kansas City has a lot of historical attractions for young adults. The historical attractions are some of the most popular, and the city has plenty of other options as well. Whether you’re looking for something to do on a weekend or just want to explore, there’s definitely something for you in Kansas City.

If you came to the city by train, you might already be familiar with Union Station which has been around for ages. This historical attraction is also where fans gathered for World Series parade in 2015.

The National Collegiate Basketball Hall is a local treasure located at the T Mobile center. Right across the street from Power and Light District, the basketball hall college basketball experience is a must-see for sports fans.

Head to the top of the country’s second tallest city hall building, the 29-story City Hall, and enjoy a bird’s eye view of the metropolitan. You’ll be visiting one the observation deck is open to visitors for free during the weekdays for set hours.

The Money Museum at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City is a unique way to spend a day without spending money. The museum has an Augmented Reality (AR) tour, as well as millions of dollars to view from the Federal Reserve, among its many exhibits. What’s great is that it’s free to visit!

If you’re in the mood for contemporary art, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is one of the most popular sites in Kansas City. This museum houses a diverse collection of art from across the world. The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art has a wonderful garden and an outdoor sculpture park as well as an impressive art collection.

What’s fun for teens is fun for young adults, too? Nah, not always but the attractions listed above really will give you a way to enjoy the local attractions even being your young adult self.

Shopping and other activities

There are many activities that people enjoy doing, but one activity that is enjoyed by almost everyone is shopping. Shopping can be done for many reasons, such as buying new clothes or looking for gifts. No matter what the reason is, shopping in KC is a great way to spend some time.

First Fridays are a busy time at The Crossroads Art District, and it’s when the entire city is drawn to the pop-up shops and live music (and art) happening in the arts district.

City Market is one of the premiere weekend shopping destinations for locals. Offering a farmer’s market on the weekends, shoppers enjoy the unique vibe this area provides with live music performance artists alongside coconut drinks from the local Brazilian vendor.

The Country Club Plaza is a must-see on any trip to Kansas City. This commercial and retail area has something for everyone, from unusual stores to top restaurants and entertainment. Best part for shoppers, is that Country Club Plaza provides a lot of high-end shopping boutiques so you can find the upscale looks you want at shops on The Plaza. Crown Center also provides high-end retail shopping along with other locations in Johnson County KS.

North Kansas City, MO is also a destination for local shopping with Zona Rosa being the main focus, along with other developing areas.
